If you’re opening an online store in Saudi Arabia, Salla and Zid are usually the first two names you’ll hear. Both are built for the Saudi market, support Arabic, local payment methods and local shipping companies, and let you launch without hiring developers.
So how do you choose? Not by which one is “better” in general, but by which one fits your business right now.
Questions to answer first
- What do you sell? Physical products, digital products, services or bookings?
- How many products? Ten gift boxes need different tools from 2,000 fashion items with sizes and colours.
- Where are your customers? Only in Saudi Arabia, the GCC or worldwide?
- What else must connect? Your accounting, inventory, delivery company or marketplace listings.
- What’s your monthly budget for the platform, apps and transaction fees?
Compare the current plans yourself
Both platforms update their plans, fees and features regularly. Before deciding, open each platform’s pricing page and write down the plan you’d actually need, the transaction and payment fees, and the paid apps you’d add. The cheapest plan is rarely the one you end up on.
Test the customer experience
Visit several live stores built on each platform from your phone. Add a product to the cart and go through checkout. Your customer will judge the store by that experience, not by the admin panel.
Think about growth, not just launch
Consider which platform’s app store and integrations cover what you’ll need in a year — loyalty points, subscriptions, B2B pricing or international shipping.
The platform is only half the job
A store doesn’t sell because it exists. Good product photos, Arabic descriptions written for buyers, fast delivery promises and a steady flow of visitors from Snapchat, TikTok, Google and Instagram matter far more than the platform choice.
